Tristram is a senior research fellow in the Department of Medicine at the University of Otago, Wellington. He also holds a number of governance positions across the health sector including board memberships on the Capital & Coast District Health Board M?ori Partnership Board, and the Community Public Health & Disability Advisory committee of Capital Coast, Hutt Valley, and Wairarapa District Health Boards.

His medical and research background includes work on the burden of asthma, bronchiolitis and COPD, along with the pharmaceutical management of these and other conditions. A particular focus for Tristram is understanding and addressing the basis for the striking disparities in health outcomes seen for M?ori and Pacific peoples with respiratory illnesses. Underlying these are clear inequities in determinants of health, access to healthcare, and quality of care. Tristram leads a number of clinical, epidemiological, and community partnership research projects that aim to develop interventions that respond to the practical needs of families/wh?nau with respiratory conditions.
