Dr. Shigeo Muro graduated from Kyoto University School of Medicine, Kyoto, Japan in 1989. After the residential training in Chest Disease Research Institute Hospital, Kyoto University, Kitano Hospital, he entered Graduate School of Medicine (respiratory medicine), Kyoto University in 1994, and he was conferred a doctorate in Kyoto University in 1998. After that, he engaged in research about airway inflammation as a post-doctoral researcher under supervision by Prof. Qutayba Hamid from 1994 through 2001 in Meakins-Christie Laboratories, McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
In 2001, he started working in Kyoto University Hospital. He was the assistant professor in 2002, Lecturer in 2008, and Associate Professor since 2017 April. His main research interests include CT analysis in COPD, and clinical pathophysiology in COPD.
