Charles Y. Yu, MD, MSc, FPCP, FPCCP is currently the National President of the Philippine College of Chest Physicians (PCCP) and past President of the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) and past national Chairman of the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT). He is also a member of the governing council of the Phil. Council for Health Research and Development. (PCHRD).
He is a multi-awarded physician, having received one of the Ten Outstanding Filipino Physicians Award in 2009, Manuel L. Quezon Leadership Award by DOH, Most Outstanding Pulmonary Fellow Award ( the highest award of the PCCP) in 2009. He is a multi-awarded research with over 30 published works in TB, asthma, COPD and infectious diseases and an author and contributor of several books. He was a scientific reviewer of international journals and headed the PCCP Council on tuberculosis as well as Air Pollution and advised and participated in numerous clinical practice guidelines. He was also WHO Consultant for PPM TB and worked adviser for TB projects for USAID. A Full-professor at the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute College of Medicine, he has also served as medical director, vice president for medical services and research in the last 20 years. He holds a masters degree in clinical epidemiology from UP Manila and finished his internal medicine and pulmonary subspecialty training at the UP-PGH. He is a frequent speaker in national and international conferences in pulmonary and other health related topics.
